Bahrain to come under CNN spotlight
04 Mar 2010
The country's economy, politics, culture and social developments will be discussed in a series of programmes starting on March 8th.
CNN describes Bahrain as the "pearl of the Gulf" and points out that the last few years have seen the Middle Eastern kingdom become "a pioneer in the region and a specialist business centre".
Prominent Bahrainis such as finance minister Ahmed bin Mohammed Al Khalifa and the Crown Prince His Highness Shaik Salman bin Hamad Al-Khalifa will also be interviewed by CNN International for the series.
Viewers will also be able to learn about the construction of the longest marine causeway in the world as well as be given an insight into employment, oil and gas wealth and the pearl and tourism industries in Bahrain.
John Defterios of CNN Marketplace Middle East will join Richard Quest on his daily programme, Quest Means Business, which will be presented live across the Bahraini capital of Manama.
In addition to discussing the country's economy, Defterios will also present the Friday edition of his Marketplace Middle East from Bahrain.
Viewers are invited to submit images and video footage of Bahrain to CNN International for potential broadcast during the week.
