GCC courts announce MoU

GCC courts announce MoU
Two Gulf Co-operation Council (GCC) legal institutions have announced that they have formalised their co-operation through signing a memorandum of understanding (MoU).

The Dubai International Financial Centre's (DIFC) independent, common judicial law system and the Ras Al Khaimah Courts have decided to cement their relationship through signing a MoU that reinforces their already close ties.

Increased levels of collaboration and knowledge sharing are the main points of the contract, as both courts maintain the common goal of providing the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with a world-class justice system.

DIFC has recently also agreed similar deals with other institutions in the Gulf region, including the Jordanian ministry of justice, the Abu Dhabi ministry of justice and the Dubai courts as it bids to promote the sense that such bodies should work together in harmony for the good of Middle Eastern citizens.

A senior official from Ras Al Khaimah said last week that the emirate is determined not to allow its current level of debt to spiral in the same way that Dubai did earlier this year.
