Casino operator MGM Mirage has revealed that it will be entering a joint venture with a developer in Egypt to construct a new resort in the country.

It will be situated outside Cairo and once completed it will house 550 rooms, reports the Associated Press.

The MGM Grand New Giza is scheduled to be opened in 2013 and it will feature an electric train that will give visitors access to the new Egyptian antiquities museum, which is currently under construction.

MGM Mirage's new resort will be part of a larger development, which will feature three hotels, residential property, restaurants, shopping malls and a golf course.

Equity funding for the project will be provided by New Giza for Real Estate Development and it is to be managed by MGM through the hospitality division.

MGM Mirage owns a number of casinos and resorts across the world, including four in the United Arab Emirates. ADNFCR-1127-ID-19247408-ADNFCR
