Morocco's 2010 economic targets 'are optimistic'
The targets for economic growth set by the government in Morocco for 2010 are too optimistic, according to an expert.

Mehdi Marouani, an economist, said in light of the crisis in the global economy, the government's targets might be set too high for the coming year.

He noted that the effects of the downturn might not be fully realised until 2010, reports Magharebia.

The expert said that in order to achieve the goals, there would need to be a great deal of hard work put in.

Another important factor would be the agricultural season, as a good one in 2010 could boost the economy in the north African nation.

However, Mr Marouani asserted that it was not impossible that Morocco could hit the ambitious targets the government has set for the coming year.

In April this year, the International Monetary Fund forecast that Morocco's economic growth would be 4.4 per cent in both 2009 and 2010. ADNFCR-1127-ID-19351224-ADNFCR
