Q1 steel and iron imports decline in Jordan
02 Jul 2009
According to data released by the Central Bank of Jordan, imports of the building materials fell by 5.6 per cent in the opening three months of 2009, reports the Star.
During this period, the numbers from the financial institution showed that imports of iron and steel in Jordan were valued at 108 million Jordanian dollars ($152.7 million).
The main exporters of the materials to the Middle Eastern country were Russia, Ukraine and Turkey.
Earlier this month, architectural firm UK "PSP", which constructs metal facades for buildings, announced that it would be entering a joint venture with Jordan's Techtonic Architectural Solutions.
They plan to work together to construct a factory to build architectural systems in the country.
The Jordan Times revealed that construction of the development will start at the end of the month.
