UAE property developers 'should adhere to standardised glass codes'
09 Feb 2010
The Gulf and Glazing Federation is aiming to double its membership in the Gulf region and lobby the UAE government to introduce a new set of standards, its chief executive Nigel Rees has revealed.
Speaking to Emirates Business, he stated that the group currently has 12 companies as members but wants to get this up to 25 so the organisation can better represent the industry.
"The aim is a single standard that the glass industry can work with in the region and hence there is no boundary to the membership in the region," he stated, adding that companies operating in Egypt and Syria had also shown some interest in joining the federation.
Last month, the UAE Cement Manufacturers Association said its members were going to raise their prices to combat falling demand for the building material in the region.
