22 Sep 2008
Dubai "/>
The firm will now be able to provide its legal services to regional and international clients in and from the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC).
Zaid Ibrahim & Co, which has 160 lawyers working in locations such as Singapore, Jakarta, Bangkok and Hanoi, has previously worked on foreign direct investments by global corporations into Malaysia and major mergers and acquisitions.
Dr Nik Norzrul Thani, chairman of Zaid Ibrahim & Co, said the deal will mean the firm is now "poised to position itself as the gateway for Malaysian and south-east Asian clients seeking legal and business support for their existing and potential commercial interests in Dubai and the Middle-Eastern region."
Meanwhile, the Dubai International Financial Centre has unveiled plans to create the institutional structure and governance for a proposed Gulf Central Bank.
