Cityscape Dubai

As the barometer of the real estate industry, the next four days at Cityscape will make or break expert predictions. But when it comes to trends, the only way is up for Cityscape Dubai - and its developments

All eyes are on Dubai this week as the region's real estate investment and development community comes together for the world's biggest - and most successful - B2B industry showcase.

Cityscape Dubai is once again a sell-out, taking over every square metre of the extensive Dubai International Convention & Exhibition Centre. Now in its seventh year, records are set to be broken once again with more than 60,000 participants expected to attend, from over 150 countries, as well as a number of international celebrities including Hillary Swank, Shahrukh Khan and Michael Schumacher. For the first time ever, the event has also been extended to
run for a total of four days. As the barometer for the real estate industry in the region and beyond, the show promises an exciting week of open forum discussion on the issues of the moment.

According to the event organisers, equity-rich Middle East property developers are seeing increasing real estate opportunities in spite of uncertainty in the global markets - aptly demonstrated by Nakheel's announcement yesterday.

"The sheer scale and intensity of the iconic projects in one of the most impressive property booms in modern history has kept the UAE, and Dubai in particular, in the global headlines for the best part of a decade. Now, as the world faces up to market uncertainty, we enter a new era in which Middle East developers are expected to maintain and even increase their presence throughout the world," said Rohan Marwaha, managing director, Cityscape.
"The debate will no doubt go on about how much, or how little, the Middle East real estate industry is escaping the volatility in the global markets. But with over 1,000 exhibitors, industry professionals from around the world are turning their attention to Cityscape Dubai this week to check the pulse of the changing local and regional market," he explained.

Leading developers from the region and beyond will be showcasing their projects during the week including Abyaar Real Estate Development, with three new projects under development, one of which is an innovative arts precinct initiative and newly launched Meraas Development, which has vowed to contribute to the emirate's real estate scene by focusing on holistic urban planning and design. Saudi Arabia's Tanmiyat will update the industry on its Ajman Marina project and the new DIFC Towers, while international exhibitor Iskandar Investment is in town to promote the 2,200-square-kilometre financial district, which aims to position itself as the Dubai of South-East Asia'.
