Construction heads meet to discuss sustainable design
Heads of construction companies in the Middle East are to meet at an event in the New Year to discuss sustainable design.

According to the International Quality and Productivity Centre (IQPC), the third annual Sustainable Design and Construction Summit will take place in Abu Dhabi in March 2009.

More than 50 international and regional speakers will attend to discuss the latest industry figures relating to green building and various strategies and ideas to move the sector forward.

Stephen Oehme, chairman of the third annual Sustainable Design and Construction Summit, said that the importance of sustainability has been progressively recognised around the world.

"Investigating and actioning sustainability outcomes are no longer only considered desirable in terms of doing the right thing for the planet; sustainability is being seen as a mandatory business requirement, directly adding to the bottom-line," he stated.

Meanwhile, the IQPC commented that the demand for precast concrete among construction companies in the Middle East is steadily increasing.
