Singapore 'introduces measures for greener construction'
Building and construction regulations in Singapore are to be tightened to increase the energy-efficiency of new homes on the island.

All energy standards will be raised as part of the new measures, with green certification set ten per cent higher than previous levels, according to an eco-business.com report.

The moves are part of the building and construction authority's (BCA) moves to increase productivity in the sector.

A higher buildability score will also be introduced, meaning firms will have to use labour-efficient technologies.

Singapore's senior minister of state for national development Grace Fu announced in parliament yesterday (March 8th) government plans for spending the $178 million National Productivity Fund.

Measures will include extra training for workers on a new scheme, aimed at creating skilled tradesmen on improved pay.
