The Best of Asian real estate recognised at the Cityscape Awards for Real Estate

The high quality of Asia’s real estate sector was showcased last night at the Cityscape Awards for Real Estate in Asia at a ceremony and reception attended by over 200 property developers, architects, institutional investors and industry leaders at Singapore’s Pan Pacific Hotel.
The Awards ceremony is a highlight on Cityscape Asia’s 2010 calendar, the premier international real estate investment and development event in Singapore. The Awards recognised developers in 12 categories spanning Corporate Social Responsibility, Green Development, Urban Design and Master Planning through to the best developments in Waterfront, Retail, Commercial, Residential, and Mixed Use Project (with a built and future award in each category).
Winning projects this year came from Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, China and India.
In the green category, Citi @ 3 by Ascendas Pte Ltd won the Best Green Development (Built), while carbon-neutral residence Sime Darby Idea House by Malaysia’s Sime Darby Property took home the Best Green Development (Future)
Thailand’s luxury waterfront residential development,Aquaminiumby Royal Phuket Marina was honoured for being the Best Waterfront Development (Built) and Malaysia’s Southbayby Mah Sing Group Bhd was recognised as the Best Waterfront Development (Future). Also, Dalian Ascendas IT Park by DLSP (Dalian Soft Park) Ascendas Co. Limited came up tops in the Best Urban Design & Master Planning category.
Similarly, developments from India had a strong presence at the Awards. Shubh Griha by Tata Housing Development Co. Limited won the award for being the Best Corporate Social Responsibility Development. Raheja Developers Limited’s Raheja Mall took home the honours for Best Developer – Commercial/Office/Retail (Built).
Another winning project from Malaysia was the Lifestyle Mall at Medini by Iskandar Investment Berhad in the category of Best Developer - Commercial/Office/Retail (Future).
Shanghai World Expo Culture Center Expo Site by Shanghai World Expo Performing Arts Center Co., Limited walked away with the Best Developer - Mixed Use (Built) award.
Singapore’s Beaumonde by Sheth Developers Pvt Ltd and Cube 8 by City Developments Limited won for Best Developer - Residential (Built) and Best Developer - Residential (Future) respectively. Further, Petaling Jaya Commercial City Development by Pjcc Development Sdn Bhd won Best Developer - Mixed Use (Future).
Cityscape Asia’s Group Exhibition Director Graham Wood said: “Building on the success of previous years, Cityscape Asia continues to be the leading platform for international real estate professionals from across Asia and further afield to source and promote investment opportunities, and discuss the most important issues affecting Asia markets today. Both the event and the awards have continued to attract many high profile exhibitors and attendees with more than 200 entries for the Awards this year.”
He added that the winners at last night’s Awards ceremony signalled the strong commitment among developers to progress the real estate sector in Asia and showcased Asia’s strong push towards incorporating sustainable features into building design.
A panel of international judges rated each project on its contribution to world architecture, culture, invention and imagination, respect for the people and environmental awareness and appropriateness in the emerging and recently developing countries in the Asia region.
Cityscape Asia - part of the world's largest business-to-business real estate event brand – is an annual exhibition and conference focusing on all aspects of the real estate development cycle. The three day event will run from 18 – 20 May 2009 at the Singapore International Convention and Exhibition Centre (Suntec Singapore).
